The second-hand marketplace Members Express Anger Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
